AL: What is your favorite hobby? What do you enjoy about it?
I enjoy attending car shows and swap meets. I enjoy seeing the creativity and raw talent that people bring to building and modifying their vehicles.
AL: How long have you been with Action Lift?
I have been with Action for just over 6 years now.
AL: Describe what your job entails.
Providing maintenance and repair services to customers as a road technician.
AL: Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
My drive to explore the inner workings of things and how to repair and improve their functionality.
AL: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself continuing to grow my skill set and stepping into a leadership role where I can help guide and support the team.
AL: What is the best advice you can give someone who has just started their career?
I would say don’t let challenging periods discourage you from reaching your goals. Step out of your comfort zone and take risks. I feel that most of the time, the results would surprise you.
AL: What are the most demanding challenges you’ve had at work? How did you overcome them?
For me, dealing directly with the customer, rather than through a service writer, as in an automotive shop, was a challenge. I took the time to understand what the customers’ expectations were of the equipment and me. The more we understand our customers, the better we can provide service.
AL: What’s your secret talent no one knows about?
I have a knack for carpentry, particularly with home remodeling and renovations.
AL: When you are at work, how do you motivate yourself?
My family is my biggest motivation to keep pushing myself throughout the work week.
AL: Regarding successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of?
I can confidently say that it is becoming a parent. There is nothing else as rewarding.
AL: How have you grown professionally while on our team?
I have become a more skilled mechanic and have greatly improved my customer service skills.
AL: Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.
I have an ever-growing collection of unique beer tap handles.
AL: What’s your favorite movie or book, and why?
One of my all-time favorite movies would be Big with Tom Hanks. It gives a great perspective on how to appreciate our current lives. Life is short, enjoy the moment.
AL: Which of our 30 Fundamentals is your personal favorite, and why?
My favorite would be “Keep things fun.” It is important to make work life enjoyable and create a positive environment. The more positive everyone is, the more willing they are to complete the task at hand, thereby boosting morale.
Thanks for giving us a great spotlight, Chris!
